I really do not know what the colour red has done to me but I really do not like the colour. That is what most people will be putting on today, at least a touch of it on their outfit. Nice isn’t it? But what is this day all about? Why do we even celebrate it? It’s to share gifts and red roses, for red carpets, and to celebrate love. I agree in a way . . . read what a Catholic Father had to say about the real meaning of Valentine.
It’s a shame that many have decided to spend so much on themselves and people they know so well on this day when the main person spent his time with someone he didn’t really have any connection with.
Many young adults and unmarried youths prepared or unprepared give in and donate/loose their virginity on this day all in the name of showing love. . .
What has sex got to do with those who are not married in the first place?
I’m not trying to be all spiritual here but think about it. . . someone imprisoned and still thought it good to share the love of God with a little girl? Isn’t that something worth it? Even though he knew he was going to die he preferred to stand for whom he believed and did something close to what Christ did.
What have you done for the sake of Christ? Do you chicken out when you’re torn between Christ and the world? Do you give to those in need of any kind, Christ inclusive? Are you shy of even talking about Him?
I think that is what Valentine means. . . it’s more than giving red roses. Yes, it was an act of love but it wasn’t mainly between couples, it wasn’t mainly between a boyfriend and a girlfriend. Don’t get me wrong it is NOT wrong to celebrate it between couples (at any level) but the HOW is what might be the issue.
Show love EVERYDAY. . .Make is it a Lifestyle. Share God’s love today with means loved ones and especially to those who need your love -the less privileged, the orphans, etc. Those who will appreciate it more and be able to say like St Valentine, thanks My Valentine.
Now that you know what Valentine is Not, celebrate it differently this year. . .
